An ingrown nose hair occurs in precisely the same way that an ingrown hair on any other part of your body may occur, when a short hair – often one that has been cut short or removed – grows back into the skin. Ingrown hairs are painful, itchy, can become red, and can potentially become seriously infected. If there is one place that you don’t want an ingrown hair it is inside your nasal passages!

The first step that you can take to minimizing your chances of an ingrown hair is to simply cut your nose hair less, but this isn’t going to be a desirable option for those who trim their nose hair because it protrudes from their face or gets really bushy. The solution is to cut your nose hair with an instrument which is intended specifically for that purpose, and that means buying a great nose hair trimmer or using a pair of nose hair scissors.

You need to be trimming your nose hairs rather than pulling them out at the root, when you pull hairs out you run the risk of leaving fragments of hairs inside your skin and this significantly increases the chances of a hair growing inside of your follicle but not leaving it – usually because the skin heals up – and for that reason you should avoid waxing your nose hair and you should avoid plucking nose hair too.

—————————————————————————————————————————————————————-

Ingrown Nose Hair Treatment

If you don’t already have an ingrown nose hair then you can stop reading now, put down the tweezers and the wax strips, and then use this site to check out the best nose hair trimmers on the market. If you do have an ingrown nose hair and have come here looking for treatment then the easiness to treat will depend on whether you can see the hair or not, the further up your nasal passage the more awkward your life gets. Here is a step by step guide:

Step 1

Take a new washcloth (not one that you have already used) and run it under warm water, gently insert into the nostril and hold it there until it cools off. Repeat several times or for around 15 minutes, making the cloth warm again each time, the point in this is to soften the hair follicle.

Step 2

Place a slightly warmer (in fact slightly hot) washcloth back up your nostril, using your thumb to apply pressure from the washcloth to the ingrown hair, place your index finger on the outside of your nose, and rub the washcloth back and forth over the infected area of the inner nostril.

Step 3

Remove the washcloth from your nose and inspect it to see if any hairs have been removed, it will be difficult to tell whether the actual ingrown hair has been removed, generally if a hair on the cloth is accompanied by what looks like a small amount of puss then you have the hair in question. You may need to repeat this step several times, usually you will notice when the hair has been removed because of the relief of your pain.

Step 4

If you think the hair has come out then dip a cotton swab into some rubbing alcohol or alcohol of some sort, and apply to the infected area inside of your nostril. Use a finger on the outside of your nose so that you can locate the precise area of the ingrown hair / infection of the follicle. Even if you are unsure whether you have removed the hair it is important that you perform this step anyway, to prevent infection and to kill germs.

Step 5

Now apply alcohol every couple of hours to the area of the infection, alternatively use antiseptic cream or antibacterial ointment after the first time, use a fresh cotton swab each time.

Step 6

If the pain persists then it is unlikely that you have successfully removed the ingrown hair, or it could be that you have removed it but the area had already become significantly infected. If the pain persists or there is any noticeable signs of infection (such as a redness on the outside of your nose) then see a doctor or a dermatologist. And remember, stop plucking or waxing, get yourself a cheap nose hair trimmer and avoid this happening again!

—————————————————————————————————————————————————————-

Remember if pain persists you MUST see a doctor or dermatologist, an inner-nose infection is a serious condition and failure to treat can result in ill health. If this doesn’t remedy the situation and pain persists then seek professional help as soon as possible.

On the page nose hair removal methods we introduced several possible nose hair removal methods, but we can only recommend two of them! First, we will tell you what we do not recommend, we most definitely do not recommend plucking or waxing. Not only are these two methods massively painful when performed on the skin inside of your nose, they also leave a very real threat of ingrown nose hairs and possibly a dangerous and uncomfortable infection.

If you do want to pluck your nose hairs then please don’t perform this action with your usual pair of tweezers, check out our selection of the best nose hair tweezers. Whatever you do, don’t wax your nose hairs, we explain why on the page Should You Wax Nose Hair? The only two methods that we can recommend are trimming with a special nose hair trimmer or cutting with a good pair of nose hair scissors.

—————————————————————————————————————————————————————-

Trimming Nose Hair

The easiest and quickest way to remove nose hair is to simply buy a nose hair trimmer. Shove it up your nostril, press the button, and the hair has gone in seconds. There are dozens of nose hair trimmers on the market of various quality, on this site we look at the very best! A nose hair trimmer doesn’t have to cost a lot of money either, you can expect to pay between $15 – $20 on any one of the five best nose hair trimmers on the market via our links (as chosen by the consumer, not by us!). An example of a fantastic nose trimmer is the Panasonic ER-GN30-K Vortex which is the top rated nose trimmer on the market and the best selling!

Not all nose hair trimmers are battery operated, there are also a few great manual nose hair trimmers which work just as well as electric nose hair trimmers, use no batteries, and cost about the same money as an electric alternative. Perhaps the most popular of them all is the Groom Mate Platinum XL which is made in the USA and comes with a lifetime warranty! Many people buy a battery operated trimmer for use at home, for the time efficiency, and a manual trimmer for travel or as a back up. There is a certain security in knowing that you won’t need to be searching for an AA battery in a city that you don’t know or in some backwater in the developing world!

—————————————————————————————————————————————————————-

Cutting Nose Hair

Before the emergence of electric nose hair trimmers, men didn’t just walk around with two giant bushes protruding from their nostrils, most of them would cut their hairs with scissors! This methods is still a perfectly acceptable one, just so long as you buy a pair of scissors which are actually designed to be inserted into the bottom of your nasal passage, using a sharp pair of nail scissors is very dangerous!

A good pair of nose hair scissors, such as the Seki Edge scissors shown left, will have rounded ends to protect your nose against nicks from those sharp blades. In the case of Seki Edge scissors they also have antibacterial rubber handles to minimize the transfer of germs into your nose. Check out our selection of the best nose scissors for a number of great options starting at just $16 including shipping.

—————————————————————————————————————————————————————-

The pain is the least of the issues though, plucking your nose hair is also potentially dangerous, it leaves open the possibility of ingrowing hairs and the result can be infection. If you do want to pluck your nose hair then you should buy an awesome pair of tweezers, such as those featured on the page best nose tweezers.

If there is one thing that you don’t want it is an infection in your inner nose, it will require a long course of antibiotics, will make your nose swell up and go red, and will make breathing incredibly difficult. Unless you enjoy pain, which most people frankly don’t, then plucking when there are painless alternatives out there, seems rather silly. Waxing is also dangerous, even more dangerous in fact, you can find out more about that in the post Should You Wax Nose Hair?

This is also the safest way to get rid of your nose hair. On this site we feature all of the very best nose hair trimmers on the market, including some manual nose hair trimmers for those who would prefer a powerless option. It can however be HIGHLY DANGEROUS to wax your nose hair, many beauticians will happily wax their own nose hair but would never agree to do so on a client. The skin inside of your nose is very sensitive to heat and applying wax can result in burns and serious discomfort, in addition the nasal area is much more prone to infection than other areas of the body that people will typically wax.

If you do decide to wax your nasal hair then you should use hot wax rather than strip wax, but beware of the dangers. We would never recommend that you attempt to wax your nose hairs, it is also potentially very painful, it is painful enough plucking one nose hair yet alone pulling them all out at once – especially if you end up using unsuitable wax! It is also important to note that only the coarse and unsightly hairs at the bottom of your nasal passages should be removed, the fine hairs which line your nasal passage are very important and serve the purpose of filtering out dust and various other airborne particles, having no nasal hair could in fact make you ill!

The only painless and completely safe method of nose hair removal is to invest in a decent nose hair trimmer such as any of the ones featured in our selection of the best nose hair trimmers. A nose hair trimmer really doesn’t have to be expensive, a budget of $15 – $20 will buy you an excellent nose hair trimmer, either battery powered such as the awesome Panasonic ER430K Vacuum Nose/Facial Hair Trimmer or manual such as the excellent American made Groom Mate Platinum XL.

Those who suffer frequent nose bleeds or have had previous problems with their nose such as breaks or breathing problems should definitely never wax hair in their nostrils, they may find it particularly uncomfortable should waxing result in a bleed or inflammation. Whilst protruding nose hairs do look terrible, your health is always more important than your appearance and a nose trimmer is by far the safest option! Stay and take a look around our site, if a nose trimmer is worth buying then we have featured it!

Nose hair is a problem that most men have to go through in their later years, in fact most men probably start having nose hair issues in their late twenties or early thirties! It is embarrassing and looks a bit silly, but it is an easy problem to fix, in fact you couldn’t really get much easier. A few seconds or a few minutes per week, as part of your usual grooming routine, is all it takes to keep that unfortunate mass of nasal hair under control.

Nasal hair has a purpose, it is in your nose for a reason, and that reason is to help catch dust and grime and prevent it from entering into your body. It’s your bodies own way of preventing dust particles from entering into your system, and for that reason you should only actually remove the hair that is visible to other people without them looking straight up your nostrils. There are several ways to remove nose hair, the most common are:

————————————————————————————————————————————————————-

Use Nose Hair Scissors

The traditional way to remove nose hair is to simply cut it off using a pair of nose hair scissors, this can be time consuming however and care should be taken. There are some great nose hair scissors out there though which are ultra-safe and professional quality, a great option for those who don’t want to have to worry about charging batteries for an electric nose hair trimmer!

————————————————————————————————————————————————————-

Wax Your Nose Hairs

It is possible to wax your nose hairs but this is a difficult task, can be painful, and requires a fair bit of skill to achieve results as good as an electric nose trimmer. If you attend a salon which does nose hair waxing then go ahead and get your nostrils waxed, but that would be one expensive way to deal with nose hairs! We can’t recommend waxing nose hairs yourself, it is just too difficult.

————————————————————————————————————————————————————-

Pluck Your Nose Hairs

More people than you might think just decide to pluck their nose hairs, this is an incredibly painful option (as well as time consuming if you have a lot of them). The inner nose is one of the most delicate and sensitive areas of your body, plucking there will sting ten times more than plucking a hair from any other part of your body! If you are a nose hair plucker and can handle the pain then fair play, if you are at the end of your tether then read on and seriously consider the next option!

————————————————————————————————————————————————————-

Buy A Nose Hair Trimmer

And finally we have by far the most enjoyable and safe method, buying an electronic nose hair trimmer! These are much cheaper than you might think, it is possible to buy an awesome nose hair trimmer from a top brand for as little as $15-$20, and that is precisely what this website is dedicated to, all of the best nose trimmers are featured right here on this website with links to buy them at rock bottom prices so stick around and check out our reviews in the right sidebar!
